T-Mobile BlizzCon
The first augmented reality time-freeze event at BlizzCon, balancing two brands in one WebApp experience.
Overview
As a sponsor of 2016 BlizzCon, T-Mobile made headlines with the first augmented reality time-freeze event. This project details the HCI user interface for the event that guides users through the capture and social sharing experience of an augmented reality photo op with characters from Blizzard's Overwatch franchise.
The WebApp solution required heavy focus on the balance between both the Blizzard/Overwatch brand and the T-Mobile brand representation, so neither read as an afterthought to the other.
Hero Selection & Social Sharing
The application was designed with quick engagement in mind. Behind the scenes, hours were spent adjusting overlays, designing assets according to brand guides, and creating an output that felt realistically embedded with the animated character. During the live event, attendees engaged with the interactive displays by choosing their favorite Overwatch character. Next, cameras captured their AR photo, which was then shared along with their "victory pose" directly to social from the same flow.
