Audi Quick Questions & Answers Guide
A glovebox-ready print concept, approved for Audi and Volkswagen alike, built to answer a question the moment it's asked.
Overview
At the request for a new look for 2016 and forward, I presented this concept to Audi/Volkswagen Group, where it was received favorably and approved for both brands moving forward. The guide organizes content around tasks owners actually need in the moment, navigation, cruise control, start/stop systems, Bluetooth pairing, using a stepped-section format so a driver can flip straight to the answer instead of reading front to back.
This booklet can be found in the glove box of any newly purchased Audi or Volkswagen vehicle.
Concept to Final Print
The lower image details early concept work for the booklet to final printed materials. The project required intense attention to detail while creating booklets unique to every vehicle model and year. Copy, layout, image retouching and iconography were all handled in-house, with the final print delivered to Audi and Volkswagen for distribution in new vehicles. One of the most challenging aspects of the project was creating a visually comprehensible booklet for client review. Since the printed output is comprised of several pages of different size and order, a typical print file created many obstacles for proofing. As a part of the project, I created a single outmated function to slice all images and recompose them into a pdf visualiztion of the final printed booklet, allowing for a more accurate review of the final product before print. Where manual compositioning took 4-5 hours of work - repeated for every iteration of the booklet - the automated photoshop function reduced the compositioning time to 5-10 minutes, allowing for more iterations and a more accurate final product.
